The Legal Metrology Act, 2009: It is a Central Act to establish and enforce standards of weights and measures, regulate trade and commerce in weights, measures and other goods which are sold or distributed by weight, measure or number and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
The Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011: It is a rule framed by the Central Government under the Legal Metrology Act 2009 to prescribe the standard quantities or number and the manner in which the pre-packed commodities shall bear the declarations and other particulars.
The Assam Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules, 2011: It is a rule frame by the State Government to prescribe the (i) fee for verification and stamping of weights and measures, (ii)fee for compounding of offences, (iii) the form, manner, conditions, period, area of jurisdiction and fee for issuance of a license under the Act, (iv) registers and records to be maintain by manufacturer, repairer or dealer of weights and measures.
The Legal Metrology (General) Rules, 2011: It is a rule frame by the Central Government to prescribe (i) specifications of weights and measures, period of re-verification, methods/procedure of tests for verification etc, (ii) the qualifications of Legal Metrology Officers, (iii) manner of disposal of seized goods, (iv) form and manner of the notice for nomination of Directors by the companies.
The Legal Metrology (Numeration) Rules, 2011: It is a rule frame by the Central Government to prescribe procedure for making and writing numeration.
The Legal Metrology (National Standards) Rules, 2011: It is a rule frame by the Central Government to prescribe (i) the specifications of base units of measures and base unit of mass, (ii) different standards and (iii) periods of verification of the standards.
The Legal Metrology (Approval of Models) Rules, 2011: It is a rule frame by the Central Government to prescribe the manner, fee and authority for approval of models of weights, measures and weighing and measuring instrument.
The Indian Institute of Legal Metrology Rules, 2011: It is a rule frame by the Central Government to prescribe the procedure for management and control of the Indian Institute of Legal Metrology, Kanke, Ranchi (Jharkhand).
